JASON SHO GREEN
Jason Sho Green (b. 1979, Sendai, Japan) lives and works in Hudson, NY. His paper lantern sculptures and paintings prod and poke fun at our relationships to work, class and capitalism.
His recent work is fueled by a ten-year stint in the tech world that took him through the floor of the NY Stock Exchange, corporate scandals, a couple years in Scotland, South Asian tech parks, a couple years in Scotland, and other experiences exotic to an artist.
Prior to that corporate detour, he was a member artist of the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York and has been awarded residencies at the Spinnerei (Leipzig, Germany) and Terra Foundation (Giverny, France). After returning to the studio full time, JSG had a solo show in 2026 at Morton Fine Art in Washington DC. Previously he exhibited internationally including a solo show at Kidd Yellin (Brooklyn) and a group show at Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart). He holds an MFA from the New York Academy of Art and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington.
Artist Statement
After I quit commuting to the city for work a couple years ago, I remained obsessed with the inanity of office culture, company values, and toxic positivity. As I started translating a decade of meeting doodles and observations into paintings and sculptures, I realized I’ve just been rebuilding the office in my studio.
It has turned into an environment to explore various themes, top of mind is this particular version of capitalism that is starting to feel quite fragile.
