Artist Statement

Jeremy has started exploring a new body of work which will be on exhibit for the first time during Hudson Open Studio. These wall hangings are made from yarn which allow him to “paint” abstractly and three-dimensionally.

The “tapestries” are inspired by a several things: a new artist’s studio; a fascination with fungus; a desire to make something that can hang on a wall; a love of knitting; exposure to a number of immensely talented abstract painters and printmakers; and questions about and artist’s life, death, legacy, and environmental impact: How much harm was done to the planet when the materials used were made? How much harm will be done to the planet after he’s gone and the art ends up in a landfill?

The work is evolving so he can’t tell you everything about it yet…but you are welcome to come and see it in progress.
