Chiarra Hughes-Mba also known as Chimba is an emerging multifaceted Artist from Hudson, NY. Chimba left Hudson to pursue her dream and obtain her degrees in Fashion Design, Computer Graphics, and Fine Arts which has allowed her to work in several professions, Fashion Design being a dominant one in her career. Fashion also shares a seat at the table with her other passions: painting and writing. In 2011 Chimba published a novel called Micheal Rogue – Life Unscripted. Her painting career began to blossom when she lived in Hokkaido, Japan where she was most inspired. And now she is back in her hometown, she has become fully immersed in the art scene, participating in several programs and shows and gaining notoriety for her work. She is currently using her experiences to continue to create meaningful art.
Artist Statement
The world I create with my brushes and paint is very different from the one we live in. It is a world of unlimited possiblities, an alternate reality. In my world there is vibrant color, light, movement, and forward momentum.
I reach back into my personal history and find safety in my symbols. Squares, circles, and forms. My figurative language speaks to human connection and joyful expression.
