Jane Ormerod was born on the south coast of England and attended art college in London before moving to New York City in 2002. After relocating to NYC, she concentrated on poetry and spoken word and performed across the United States and beyond. Fast forward to 2021 and now living in Hudson, she was inspired to return to visual art. Since then her work has been exhibited in group shows at Circle 46 Gallery (Hudson), The Woodstock Artists Association & Museum (Woodstock), ThArbor Gallery (Carmel), CREATE Council on the Arts (Catskill), Gallery 40 (Poughkeepsie), Super Secret Projects (Beacon), and LABspace (Hillsdale), plus artwork and writing in print journals and anthologies such as Maintenant, The Sparring Artists, From Somewhere to Nowhere: The End of the American Dream, and three solo poetry collections.
In 2020, Jane received a NYC Acker Award for her contribution to the avant-garde community. Alongside John K Lawson, she hosts and curates the monthly literary/performance series “A Galère of Poetic Autopsies” at Hudson’s Park Theater.

Artist Statement
“Chance, intuition, a desire for the unidentifiable. Recently I discovered a drawing created when I was seventeen. The shapes and colors exactly matched a painting I had finished the previous week. How many layers exist in this world? What is that melody heard faintly between our thoughts?”
We are muscle, tenacious. We are magnificent. We are each of each other. We nurture, analyze, create, learn, welcome the fallen and fleeing, abort when we choose. In the future, we wander in joy. For now, we aim. Calm shimmer, serrated edge, an archipelago of kiss and voice.
