DEBORAH RICE
532 Warren Street, Apt 2, Hudson, NY
A self-taught wood artist, Deborah Rice evolved her craft after many years of running her own jewelry business in Brooklyn, NY. Her pieces have been commissioned by museum stores and boutiques from New York to LA. That eye for design and handwork informs her woodworking practice, layered with an appreciation for the beauty of reclaimed materials — each with its own history, weathering and character.
Artist Statement
I make one-of-a-kind jewelry & decorative works crafted from foraged, reclaimed and ethically sourced materials - each bearing its own quiet history. The cracks, knots and uneven edges in the wood I choose aren’t flaws to be fixed: they’re the beautiful story already written into the material. Each piece is made by hand in my home studio in Hudson, NY.
